a royal crime (Haylen, anyone)

"Hey..." I said quietly.

Thomas got up and walked over to her, "You heading out?" he asked

"I was about to, but just couldn't walk past." I said, giving him a small smile.

Thomas smiled a bit, "I see" he replied

I looked down, not being very happy.
"You know... I still wonder why I snapped at you earlier."

Thomas looked at her after he got in the car, "Don't worry about it Haylen." he replied

"Hard not to... not really my way of talking to you guys. But I can try." I replied seriously.

Thomas nodded in reply, then sighed, "We all have our moments." he replied

I smiled a little. "True." I replied. "But that doeasn't mean I have to like them. And I did mean it when I said sorry."

Thomas nodded, "I know Haylen" he replied, at the same time, his phone rang, "Kelly" he replied, he was quiet for a few seconds, the man on the other end was a representative of the queen

I watched him as he got quiet and listened to whoever was talking to him now.

"Sir, I can not accept that" Thomas replied, he was quiet for a little while longer, "Yes sir, I will think about it, thank you for calling." he said, Thomas hung up and looked at Haylen, "That was a representative of the queen."

"Oh? And he wanted to tell you the queen wants to reward you?" I asked with a small smile.

Thomas nodded in reply, "Yes she does" he said to Haylen, "But I'm not sure if want it." Thomas added

"What did she offer?" I asked, just because I was curious. But I knew that we actually weren't allowed to accept rewards.

"Knighthood into the Royal Victorian Order" Thomas replied, "The thing is I'm a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, which is not part of the British Commonwealth."

"Well, but you gotta admit that Sir Thomas Kelly sounds quite nice." I said with a small smirk. "But you may be right about that, may not be a very good idea."

Thomas smiled when Haylen said that, "Indeed it does" he replied, "I'll call them back when I get a chance." he added

"Just not really sure what to think about it, I mean, one gets rewarded and what about those you worked with? Just sayin'...." I countered.

"I know" Thomas replied gently, "I hate making choices like this." he replied

"Not your fault, Tom." I said with a small shrug."But I wouldn't want to make that choice either."

Thomas nodded, then turned to walk back to his office

"I'll see you later, I guess..." I said as I watched him.

"Aye" Thomas replied as he walked down the hall, he had a call to make

I decided to stay and wait a little, seeing if he'd come and tell me what he decided to do, so I walked into the break room for a cup of coffee.
