Long Time No See [Brii, everyone]

I had been giving a guest presentation at the NY university and was now walking down the stairs of the main building on my way off the campus, but someone coming walking up to the building caught my eye and I stopped.
"Brii? Is that you?" I asked, a little surprised to see her, but happily so.

"Mac? What are you doing here?" I squealed, happy to see my favorite cousin, second or otherwise. "How are you doing?"

I smiled at her.
"I'm doing well, just done with a small guest presentation." I replied. It's been a while since I saw her last. "You've grown a lot since I saw you last."

"Well, yeah, Mac. I haven't seen you since the wedding, thanks to Mom." I rolled my eyes at the woman to whom I was unfortunately related. "She found out I snuck out to go to your wedding, did I tell you?"

"Never got the chance to. I still wonder what's her problem with me anyways." I said, looking at my little cousin.

I shrugged. "Heck if I know," I replied. "Probably nothing or something really insignificant. Maybe because she was friends with the Bedfords. Actually, no, she stopped talking to Mrs. Bedford years ago. She did say that you were a bad influence on me once, although I still can't figure that one out." I sighed and stuck my hands into the pockets of my oversized hoodie. "She doesn't really need a reason. She's crazy. Why do you think I'm going to school here instead of Chicago? Too close to that craziness."

Mac couldn't help but smirk a little.
"Yeah, never really got her reasons either. But it's good to see you." he said, being glad to see her again.

I smiled. "Same here," I replied. The smile on my face faded a little as I remembered something my mother had managed to pass on. "I heard about Claire," I said soberly, remembering how I had cried when my mother had told me. "I'm sorry. My mom told me. She wouldn't take me to the memorial."

I sighed a bit when she said that. "It's okay..."

I snorted, shifting my backpack from one shoulder to another. "No, it's not. Not even close, it's not okay. My mom, she cried for two days when she heard, and that's her. But," I twitched a small smile, "I just got out of an Economics class, and if I wanted to be depressed, I'd have actually listened to the lecture. What's going on with you now? How are things? Are you still with the NYPD?"

"Yeah, I am. Leading the Crime Lab. Want to come and get a tour some day?" I replied, looking at my cousin.

"Are you kidding me?" I squealed. "I'd LOVE to! What's it like?"

I smiled, seeing her like that. always the happy one.
"Well, quite modern and sometimes a whole lot of work." I replied and tell her a little bit more about the lab, about Adam's realm at the A/V part of the lab and what a computer freak he was and what other nice addition we had.

"Oh, because I'm not used to that?" I said teasingly. "When can I visit?"

"Whenever you want. I'm around most of the week, just can't tell when I'm in the field." I replied, looking at her.

"Well, I have classes in the morning and the afternoon today and tomorrow, but the day after that I have an afternoon free." Normally, I'd spend that time trying to find a job, but since this was what I was going to school for, I figured it took precedent over filling out job applications at fast food restaurants and seedy bars.

I nodded while listening to her. "Well, I'll be at the lab around... 3 pm, starting my shift. feel free to drop by. Just ask for me and they'll let you in." I told her.

I nodded. "Okay," I said. "I'll catch a cab over there. I can't wait, but until then--" I looked down at my watch and grimaced. "--I've got a Forensic Bio lecture I'll be late for in about three minutes. It was great seeing you, Mac. I gotta run, bye!"

"Okay. See you then, bye!" I replied and watched her leave.
