Why does this always happen? (Mac/Katrina)

A give a smile back. "Thanks." I say while walking in and moving my hair from my face.

I smile and follow her.

We got a table and sat down.

A young waitress brings us a menu and then leaves us alone.

I don't really look at the menu I'm lost in my thoughts.

I notice that she's somehow lost in thoughts.
"You okay?" I ask her in a soft tone, not wanting to startle her.

Mac says something to me that ulls me back in reality. "Huh?"

"You just seemed lost in thoughts. You okay?" I repeat my question.

I nodded. "Yea I'm ok." I lie. I was always told Mom started cheating because Dad started drinking.

I noticed she wasn't telling me the truth but don't call her on that, guessing that her mother told her something different than I did, because I knew her story. I see the waitress coming back to our table and put the menu down, knowing what I want.

I put mine menu down and just tell her I'm not hunrgy.

Though I order a small toast for me, I'm wondering if she really isn't hungry.
But I didn't want to ask her here.

I go back to thinking again. I get up to go to the bathroom.

I look as she gets up, but say nothing, but watch her going to bathroom and sigh.

I got in and wash my face then reapply my makeup and walk back out after a few minutes..

I give her small smile when she comes back.
"Really don't want anything?"

I just shank my head. "No I am fine." I smile back.

I nod and finish my modest lunch.

I look around and stare off in space.
