The Christmas tree [Karina &nd Mac]

Subject: The Christmas tree [Karina &nd Mac] Wed Dec 23, 2009 11:49 am

It's nearly Christmas and we would decorate the Christmas tree today.
Mac wasn't able to take a break from his work so he told us to decorate the tree ourselves.
Of course I hoped he would be here like every year, But I understood he couldn't. there were so many crimes now that he couldn't just leave.

I grab the box with the Christmas decoration and walk up to the living room where I found Karina playing with some dolls.

"Are you going to help mommy with decorating the tree Karina?"

I look up when Mommy is coming in.

"Of course, Mommy. Will Daddy help us?" , I ask Mommy 'cause I really hope that Daddy will help us.

I sigh and put the box on the table

"No he won't be here, he's working"

I hate to say he's working, because I have to say it so often lately and I can tell you, Karina is missing him and so do I.
He better be home with Christmas, last year I almost had to drag him home....

"He's always working! I miss him, Mommy. Why can't he stop working?"
I ask her. I hate it that Daddy is never at home. I'm really sad about this but I can see that Mommy isn't that happy about that as well.

I sit down on the couch and lift Karina on my lap.

"He can't just stop working, he has to catch the bad guys to keep us and the rest of the people in New York save"

Mac really needs to take some days off... and spend some time with his daughter and me.

When Daddy isn't coming at home soon, I don't like him anymore, that's clear!

Karina is looking so sad, I hate to see her like that.

"Think about all your uncles, aunts and Lucy, they have to be save as well right?"

He'll be home more often when Christmas and new year are over... I hope...

I'm looking down cause I am sad. I want so badly that Daddy is coming home. This would be definitly my biggest wish for christmas, next to the wish that I want a sister or a brother. I'd like to have a sister cause my friend told me that brothers are silly.

I know Mac loves Karina, but it's so hard for him to work less then he used to.
all those years he lived for his work and now he has to live for karina, me and his work.
I know it's tough on him, Still I think he has to understand that his girl needs him.

I sigh.. what can I say to her? the truth and the truth is that I have no idea, I hope soon is tonight, but she will be in bed when he will come home.. he's asking me everytime how karina is doing and I guess tonight I have to say.. not good.. she's missing you...

it's going to be a hard conversation...

"Why do you not know? Aren't you talking to Daddy? Isn't he telling you when he comes? And why can't he come for only 10 minutes to me? I mean, only 10 minutes... I want to tell him how much I love him and that I miss him. Mommy, can't you ask Daddy if he can come 10 minutes to me?!"

I ask. Today I ask a lot, normally I didn't do this but I wanted to see my Daddy. And I didn't understand why Mommy didn't know when Daddy is coming at home. She has to know it.

I feel tears burning in my eyes, but I can't cry in front of my child... I really wish I could tell her he would be home at 4pm..
even if he promises to come by that time he would call and say he would be home at 5....

of course she doesn't understand that on her age.. I doubt if I can ever understand that Mac can't come home..

"But that's unfair, he's my Daddy... he always promises that he'll be at home and then- boom- he isn't at home. I hate that! And I'm sure he won't be here on Christmas either."

I say and stand up. I really think that it is more than unfair that Daddy won't come at home.

I say and lay down my doll which I hold the whole time.

"Are we going to decorate the christmas tree now?"

I ask cause I don't want to talk about Daddy any longer.

I take a deep breath and sigh

"Okay"

I carry Karina of my lap and I stand up and open the box.
In the box are little boxes with Christmas balls, I open one of the little boxes with a beautiful Christmas ball in it.
I give it to Karina so she can search a place.

I'm taking the Christmas ball and look for a good place in our tree.
After I found the, in my opinion, perfect place, I hang the christmas ball on it and turn around.

I give her a purple ball with silver lines on it.
I grab a silver ball with purple lines and hang it in the tree as well

I watch Mommy while she hangs the christmas ball on the tree. I hang my ball as well on the tree and look again at her.

"Mommy, I love you."

I finally managed to end up my investigation and to arrest the murderer. I did it with some relieve for Stella said me they were going to make the X-mas tree and I really wanted to be with them. So I left the lab' hoping I won't be called again by Flack or Jess.

I parked the Avalanch and entered in. I did it in silence to make the suprise to my dear daughter.

I approached her and put my hands on her eyes. I didn't haer what she just told to Stella

-Guess who is back home to see you making the X-mas tree !

I look at my little girl while she says those beautiful words to me, those words make me really happy

I was about to say something when I saw Mac walking in,
I smile at him while he puts his hands in front of Karina's eyes.
