On the phone [Mac]

"Okay... My mother asked about you." I say.

"your mother? why? when? what was it about?" smiles

"Let me tell you, it was more questioning me, then asking. She called this morning and I told her about you some time ago and she of course wants to know what kinda woman you are, how we get along and if..." I suddenly stop, not sure if I really say anything further.

Mac's mom wants to know what kind of woman I am? why would she want to know that, I'm just his partner, why isn't Mac talking further? "if?" I ask and want him to continue

I knew she would call me on that....
"Ya know, mothers always interprete things... she just wanted to know if I 'like' you."

"you mean she asked if I am your girlfriend, didn't she?" I grin

"Yeah, something like that and when I told her you're not she basically asked me what I was waiting for. I mean she knows we're best friends but that's almost everything she knows." I reply.

"you were waiting for her to ask that?" I ask a bit confused

"No, I wasn't waiting for that. But I guess she just wants to see me having someone to rely on and maybe be married to again. She asked me why I wasn't trying that with you." I say being a bit shy of course, I feel my face to blush.

I sit up in my bed WHAT did he just say... His mom wants me to be with him... "What did you tell her?"

"Uh... just told her that we were best friends but she only laughed at that comment." I say. Maybe I shouldn't have told her? How on earth do I get out of it now? But maybe....

"that's right we are best friends" I agree and smile

"oh c'mon she's probably just teasing you because your best friend is a woman" I grin

"Probably, but she always says that 'a mother always knows things her son doesn't seem to know.' That's what got me worried." I say with a small grin.

"Oh yes you should be so worried" I grin and shake my head. She's just a mom who wants her son happy

And who can make my mom's son happy?

"Oh yeah, am already worried sick, you know?" I tease back.

"So what are you going to do about it?" I laugh and roll on my tummy while holding the phone

"Listen Taylor, you can't let your mom choose a girl for you besides who's saying I like you the way your mom wants me to like you" I laugh

"Maybe I was asking you, because I wanted to? ut you don't have to, then I'll ask Aubrey, I'm sure she'll be thrilled to hear from me again." I say with a playful grin.

I sit up in my bed and my eyes go like -> "If you ask her for dinner I'm never going to speak to you again!"

I lean my back angainst the wall behind me and give myself a satisfied smile.
"Well... thinking about it..." I start in a teasing tone.

"well if you want to give up your friendship with me, sure go a head ask her for dinner"

"Actually I wanted to say that it wouldn't be as nice as it would be with you." I say in a firm, but soft tone.
