crime rings (anyone)

I smiled a little and started to examine the car, my working mode kicking back in.
"I don't believe it was a coincidence that he was here after we caught those guys and freed the girls." I said as I walked to the front of the car. It was almost burned out now.

"Aye" Thomas replied as he got back to processing the car

I had the camera on the sling aroung my neck and took a few pictures from the front and the driver's side.
"I have the feeling that we'll never find out who did it..." I said, taking some more pictures and sighed.

Thomas nodded, "Unfortunately" he replied

I sighed and then stepped back a little, watching the car from a little distance.

Thomas soon finished up, then had it towed away

I was at the car, my kit inside. I just leaned at the driver's side and watched the happenings around me.

Thomas soon rejoined her, at the same time, the last of the victims was taken from the site and to the hospital

As the last victim was taken away I sighed and then glanced at Thomas. I was glad it was done now.

Thomas nodded to Haylen, then got into the SUV

I got in as well and though this was over for now, my mind was now busily replaying the past moments. Actually she was proud about her job, but somehow it had a bitter taste.

Thomas looked over at her as he drove off, "You did good" he replied gently

"Thank you." I glanced at him and smiled a little. "You, too." I said to him.

Thomas nodded in reply as he drove them back to the crime lab

"Still has me thinking that I probably just saved three lives..." I said quietly. "I mean, besides the girls we saved."

Thomas nodded in reply, "Aye" he said to her

"Did a lot of good things for just one day." I said with a smirk and then fell silent.

"We all did" Thomas added

I nodded with a slight smile, not really knowing what to say. That I hurt my wrist, while I saved the two men actually didn't really matter to me as it was worth it, but the thought about what may have happened if I hadn't noticed that car and the gun scared me.

they soon got back to the crime lab, after parking, Thomas saw Tasha Jaskolski standing outside, an NYPD jacket around her

I looked at Thomas in question when I saw the girl outside.
"Isn't she supposed to be at the hospital?" I asked him, but was wondering what this was about.

"Aye, she is" Thomas replied, he got out and walked up to her, "Tasha, what is it?" he asked

I had been following him a little slower, so I didn't hear the beginning of what she said.

Tasha looked up at Thomas, "The doctor's told me that I'm pregnant." she replied, Thomas looked at her, then nodded slowly, knowing full well who got her pregnant in the first place, a tear came to Tasha's eye, "I don't know what to do" she said, her voice shaking, Thomas reached into his pocket and got a card, after writing on the back, he handed it to her, "Go here, the nuns will take good care of you and your child." he said to her gently

I gave Tasha a small smile, knowing the same thing, as Thomas. I felt sorry for the young woman and I understood all too well that she was scared.
"You still have card? You can give me a call any time." I told her in honesty.
