Hiding in My Shell [Stella]

Subject: Hiding in My Shell [Stella] Wed Feb 23, 2011 6:10 pm

I was sitting on the bench in the locker room, my elbows rested on my knees, hands hanging loosely between them and my head was turned down to the ground. It was about a week after I had an argument with Stella about a stupid little comment and then getting everything the wrong way.
Ever since then I had pulled back into my shell, hiding my feelings and anger and hiding what was bothering me from everyone. I hadn't been smiling, I hadn't been sleeping much and I hadn't been home much. Only to shower, change and try to get some sleep. Lindsay and Don had tried to figure out what had let to my changed behavior but I just didn't feel like talking about it.
Now, after a long day and a tough case I was sitting here, trying to sort my thoughts and thinking about calling Stella. I hadn't seen her much since that conversation that was supposed to be a fun teasing, but turned out with us fighting and me leaving, because it was better for both of us. I was wondering how she was doing and I felt bad for that argument. But so far I just couldn't get the heart to call her and talk to her. But every time I'd meet her in the lab, or just see her, she'd give me a tormented smile, almost a sad smile. I knew it was bugging her just as much as me.
While thinking about what to do now, I hear the door to the locker room being opened.

It had been a week since Mac and I spoke like we used to. We had an argument and that didn't end well. I must say, I feel terrible about it but I still stand my ground. I was right... if he can't accept that, It's not my problem. oh well.. maybe I should have gave in, this isn't really how I want to spend my week.. Honestly, I miss him.. Yes I do...

Lindsay saw Mac walking into the locker room, she told me I had to follow him for the labs sake, of course that was a little bit overreacted but she was right at some point I have to admit that. So I walk to the locker room, I let out a deep sigh before I walk into the locker room and find Mac sitting on a bench, he doesn't look well...

"Hey" I greet him and sit down next to him

I don't even need to look up to know it's Stella. I just sense it when she's in the same room than I am. Just a feeling I have for her, a feeling I have with only a few people. I sigh a little before she sat down next to me.
"I'm sorry, Stella." I say quietly, not looking up, but telling the truth.

"I'm sorry too" I tell him. I wrap my arms around him and rest my chin on his shoulder. "we were too stubborn"

I relax a little when I feel her arms around me and her chin on my shoulder. I'm glad I finally said that. I nod in agreement.
"We were. But friends do fight, right?" I say, still in a quiet tone.

"That's only making us stronger, Mac" I tell him with a smile. I'm glad I listened to Lindsay and went to the locker room. though, sooner or later we'd talk anyway

"You know, before you entered I was thinking about calling you." I say, finally looking at her.

She's right: what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.

"Oh, you can always call me huh, no matter what" I say and smile at him.

"Guess I don't need to now that you're already here, right?" I say in a lighter, finally offering a small sheepish smile, the first smile after that argument.

"You are right about that" I give him another smile

I nod, locking eyes with her, but say nothing.

"are you feeling better?" I dare to ask while I look into his blue eyes

I stay quiet for a few more seconds before nodding slightly.
"Actually, I do. You?"

I wrap my arm around her shoulders, pulling her a little closer to me.
"I'm glad to hear that."

I pull back again and offer a glad smile.
Yes, I did miss my best friend around to keep me sane and yes I am more than happy that I finally got the chance to talk to her and that this is now solved and dealt with.

"you're coming back to the lab?" I dare to ask after he pulls back

"Actually I was about to call it a day." I say quietly.
I've had enough today and having worked 2 allnighter in a row and today's early morning shift I was more than tired, not to forget that I didn't get much rest the past week anyways.

"Ooooh, well I'll see you tomorrow then?" I ask with a smile. of course he's going home, he has been here for quite a while, Yes i checked, is that bad? No! Razz

I smile a little and nod.
"I hope so." I say and get up from the bench and open my locker.

"well if you're working, you'll see me" I smile and walk to the locker room door. "I have to go back, Adam's waiting for me at the lab"

"Thanks, I'll need it, turns out he also robbed a bank and set the NJPD on fire.. a detective from Jersey will come over soon too... just wonderful" I role my eyes
